Everyone at Inaburra knows the wonderful job that Mr Newton, Mrs Drake and Mrs Reid do each week in teaching Music at our school.
The fact that the Junior School Band was awarded a Gold Award at the Sydney Band Eisteddfod, that the new Intermediate Band received a Silver Award after only six months of playing together as a group is evidence enough of their work. We also know that Mr Newton and Mrs Drake are leading the choirs, dancers and bands on a tour of New Zealand these holidays, and that it was only recently that the Concert and Stage Bands performed at Sutherland Entertainment Centre with Carl Reisley.
Parents and students would not be aware that our bandmaster, Mr Newton, has just received the prestigious National Award for Excellence in School Music Education for his excellent work with our students. All of us at Inaburra congratulate Mr Newton on this well-deserved award.
