I am pleased to inform our community that Inaburra School has been awarded a $2.5 million grant in order to build a performing arts centre. The centre will be constructed on Billa Road, in our Junior School. Inaburra owns the two houses adjacent to the entry. This is a very exciting time for Inaburra School as we construct excellent new facilities to support K-6 education and the creative and performing arts.
On behalf of the Inaburra School Board, parents, staff and students I would like to express our thanks to the Federal Government for their contribution to Christian education in the Sutherland Shire. Education should be an inclusive portfolio and we recognise the efforts of the federal government to make it thus.
The centre will feature a 650 seat theatre, junior school classrooms and canteen, as well as specialist facilities for music, media, art and drama. The Inaburra Board has approved up to $9 million in total (i.e., $2.5M grant + $6.5M own funing) to be spent on the facility. Subject to approval by the relevant authorities, it will be built in stages, commencing later this year.
The facility should be finished by February 2011.
