Cricket Update
Date:26 Mar 2009
The cricket season finished with a spirited contest between Inaburra First XI and William Carey at Tonkin Oval last Wednesday (18th March 2009). The visitors won the toss and batted. Mitchell Dayhew made the first breakthrough at 1/5 but wickets fell steadily after 2/55 and the 50 overs gained 170 runs for the opposition.
The achievable total was thought to be about 150. Inaburra suffered the loss of an early wicket. Captain Nathan Woellner stayed at the crease and was the 6thwicket to fall. A sustained fightback by Nick Ryan and Mitch Parsons for 66 runs saw us fall still 51 runs short.
This was the 16th CSSA Competition and on the day William Carey were the worthy winners. This was their first Open Boys win.
