Learning Centre
Every child needs to feel secure and significant in the class room and playground.
Every child needs to be challenged. “Gifted and Talented” strategies allow teachers to address children according to their ability levels rather than as a large group.
Differentiating the curriculum allows children options in learning. As educators we are continually refining our programs so that they utilise teaching strategies that pay attention to a student’s previous knowledge and skills and seek to take them the next step.
Some students struggle with particular aspects of learning. Inaburra has specialist learning support operating in the junior, middle and senior schools. In Years K-3 we operate both in-class THRASS program and support students who require extra assistance in literacy and numeracy. Our reading recovery program assists students who require further development in Years 3-6. Students who are particularly capable receive specialist assistance in literacy, numeracy, critical and creative thinking.
In the Middle School there is support for classroom based learning in years 7, 8 and 9 in English and Mathematics. Independent Mathematics (an after-school homework assistance group) assists students as they learn how to complete homework and gain confidence with Mathematics. It takes place each term. Parents and teachers, or the individual student can request a place on the program via the Coordinator for Mathematics.
Accessibility to the site for disabled students,
family members and the public is catered to via the installation of a lift.
