Inaburra School

Inaburra School

History

The dream of the Sutherland Baptist Church was to establish a Christian school in Menai. The need for a Christian school was evident after a survey of the local community was undertaken. With a rapidly growing population and the lack of a State high school in the area, the need was even more urgent. A portable building was erected on the Billa Road site for the use of the preschool and church in 1980, and in 1982 Inaburra commenced as a secondary school in temporary accommodation in the Christian Education Centre at Gymea Baptist Church, the first enrollees being sixty Year 7 and twenty-four Year 8 students.
